While living on the Cape in Massachusetts, I was looking for a new artistic medium in which to express my photographs. A fortuitous discussion with another artist selling jewelry ultimately led me to a secret beach, where, under precise conditions, I found a continuous treasure trove of giant sea clam shells (not living clams), which, as it turned out, act as amazing canvases for pictures!Through intense trial and error, I perfected a method to imprint and preserve images in these rather large shells (some shells can reach over 8 inches wide, but most average 5.5-7 inches). Not only are they aesthetic, but they are also functional as decorative dishes for jewelry, wrapped candies, coins, or really anything you like! Note, the shells are NOT waterproof.
